Zivot je u detaljima. I u nicem drugom.

What a weekend. I went to Fukuoka for a friend’s birthday and ended up running into a bunch of people randomly as well. I spent a lot of time drinking, acting like a loud, belligerent foreigner, and generally having a good time. I also wandered around with the boys looking for a sex shop while they catcalled every last living, breathing Japanese chick walking down the street. Oh, and I got told that my breasts look like Hokkaido. Don’t ask.

I finally slept in a capsule hotel this weekend as well. It was a first for me and it was pretty nice actually! The only thing was that I had to hide my tattoos in the sauna/bath because they don’t allow tattooed people to stay there and I would have been kicked out had I been discovered. Apart from that, the capsules were comfortable and not as claustrophobic as I had expected. There is also free porn on the overhead display but I was too drunk to watch it. When I woke up hung-over and confused I momentarily had a sci-fi moment where I thought I was waking up in a stasis chamber and my whole life had been a dream. Then a half naked, half cracked out (but still totally adorable) Japanese chick jumped down from the capsule above me and catching a glimpse of her Hello Kitty underwear made me suddenly remember where I was.

I also befriended a really cool Russian snack girl this weekend. I was totally plastered and this really pretty blond woman was all decked out standing next to me so I started talking to her. Well her English was so-so but she had a kickass Russian accent and her name was Natalia. At one point I started talking to her in Croatian coz I was gone enough that I figured, hey we both speak Slavic languages, how different can they be? An interesting linguistic conversation followed. The funniest part of our exchange though, was the fact that we were mainly speaking to each other in Japanese (after my Croatian got me nowhere). How funny is it that a Croatian-Canadian and a Russian national would communicate to each other in Japanese? She was a cool chick though and even bought me a few drinks until her rich Japanese ‘Daddy’ decided that it was time for them to move on. When I think back on Japan I know it’s experiences like these that will stick out most in my mind.

Well that’s it for now. Did I mention that my digital camera is broken?? Yep, I finally decide to start taking pictures on my own and the stupid thing craps out on me. So no pics for a while until I get a new camera.

Oh and a quick link for those of you who want to know what I do at work….here is the site from a recent workshop that I ran. Enjoy:
