Watashi wa Lucky Bastard desu.
This weekend I learned two differences between a good friend and a great friend:
1. A good friend will check on you when you're wasted and throwing up in the bathroom of some random bar/club.
A great friend will wait patiently outside the stall 'cause she knows that you hate being babied and are liable to yell at her for her trouble, but will instead keep the annoying japanese women who always wanna help away from you so that you are not later arrested on murder charges.
2. A good friend will check on you occasionally when you pass out amongst people you barely know in a Karaoke parlour.
A great friend will not leave your side even though she's talking to a dude she kinda likes, and will go so far as to cover your ears whenever someone is singing really badly so that it doesn't disturb your sleep.
Yep. Today I am feeling grateful. I had a very interesting weekend in Saga City, which involved a lot of drinking (and overdrinking) and some generally beligerent and self destructive behaviour on my part (hey, i've been pretty good lately, so I needed a little sojourn into my wicked past). I will leave out most of the sordid details (because the bad stuff is seldom worth repeating) but one thing I will say is that I appreciate Jenny even more than before. I mean she fuckin' covered my ears for bad Karaoke! *tear*. *heart*
It's funny. Thinking back on the last few years and all the stuff that I have gone through I can't help but feel grateful, despite the vast accumulation of various hardships that I have undergone. So many times my life was such a mess in so many ways, and yet through it all I have always had at least on really good friend I could count on, and oftentimes more than one. I mean it's crazy how life can balance, but the one saving grace of my existence has always been great friends. So to all my good and great friends, if you are reading this, you should know that I appreciate you all. Sorry for the cheesiness of all this but sometimes I feel this stuff really should be written down and shared, rather than left closed inside my mind for fear of sounding like a pansy-ass.
